Decisions of 12th Alumni Meet
The 12th Alumni Meet held on 20.11.2016 took the following decisions:
(a) To look for separate window for Alumni Meet (not clubbing the same with SANMILAN
(b) It was agreed to pay a nominal amount of Rs 5,000/- to Shri GG Baruah for preparing the online portal of Samannay
(c) It was agreed to organize a National level seminar/ HR meet before March 31st 2017 jointly by CMS and Samannay
(d) To look into the possibility of registering Samannay with the Government
(e) To organize at least one Blood Donation Camp under the banner of Samannay at the earliest
(f) Group photograph of Alumni present in the Alumni Meet to be published in the subsequent issues of Expose
(g) To help in making a video of the CMS Theme Song
(h) To organize a get together of Samannay by March 31, 2017 at Duliajan for alumni in and around Duliajan
Blood Donation Camp on February 3, 2017
Samannay - the CMSDU Alumni Association organized a Blood Donation Camp on February 3, 2017 commemorating the 15th Foundation Day of the Centre. 40 units of blood were donated by the alumni, staff and students of the Centre in the Camp.
13th Alumni Meet
The 13th Alumni Meet concluded today. Mr. Abdul Rakib of the MBA ( FT) 2003 Batch was unanimously selected as the New President of Samannay - the CMSDU Alumni Association. Mr. Titan Sengupta was nominated as Secretary, Extension Activities. The other members of the executive were retained. The XIth edition of Expose was also released.
New Tagline for SAMANNAY
SAMANNAY has adopted a new tagline for itself. The tagline was chosen through a competition held among the alumni and the students of CMSDU by the association. It was won by Ms. Moni Gupta of MBA (FT) 2017 batch. The second and third prizes were won by Mr. Biraj Hazarika [MBA (FT) 2006 Batch] and Mir Saeed Anjum Bora [MBA (FT) 2017 Batch]. The competition was judged by Md. Anisul Hoque, Founder and Creative Head, Resonance Brand Communications,Guwahati.
The tagline of SAMANNAY is now Connect. Grow. Shine.
14th Alumni Meet
The 14th Alumni Meet was organized by Samannay on the 18th of November, 2018. 42 alumni from different batches of MBA (FT), MBA (PT), BBA and PhD were present. The day long programme saw the presentation of Citations to Prof. Pranjal Bezborah, Founder Director of CMS along with the two senior most faculty members, Dr. Pratim Barua and Dr. Himadri Barman. Dr. Surajit Borkotokey and Dr. Chimun Kr. Nath, HODs of the Department of Mathematics and Department of Commerce were also facilitated for their contribution to the Centre in its early years. The winners of the tagline competitions organized by the Association this year were awarded including Ms. Moni Gupta who coined the tagline of Samannay - Connect.Grow.Shine. The 12th edition of the Alumni Magazine, Expose was also released. The exisiting Executive Body was retained by the Association for one more year. In the evening, earthen lamps were lit and lanterns were released into the sky to commemorate the Alumni Meet. The 14th Alumni Meet was sponsored by the 2003 MBA (FT) Batch.
15th Alumni Meet
The 15th Alumni Meet of the Centre was held on November 10, 2019. It was attended by 70+ alumni making it the Alumni Meet with the highest attendance. The General Body Meeting decided to enhance the total number of executive committee members from 9 to 14. The EC will now have 8 portfolios and 6 members. It also decided to give some financial powers to the EC.
The alumni mouthpiece Expose was also released. Mr. Abdul Rakib was re-elected the President for his third consecutive term.
16th Alumni Meet held
The 16th Alumni Meet was held under the aegis of Samannay on November 6, 2022. 69 alumni from across the various programmes and batches were present. In the inaugural session, Chairperson of the Centre, Prof. Kumud Chandra Goswami and former Chairperson, Prof. Ajanta Borgohain Rajkonwar were present. Prof. Rajkonwar is currently the Vice Chancellor of Assam Women's University. The 14th volume of Expose was released in the Alumni Meet. A new Executive Committee of the Association was formed with Mr. Hriday Ranjan Das of the MBA (FT) 2010 being elected as the President. The Office of Samannay was also formally inaugurated by Prof. Goswami.
17th Alumni Meet Organized
The 17th Alumni Meet was held under the aegis of Samannay on November 26, 2023. 35 alumni from across the various programmes and batches were present. In the inaugural session, Dr. Uday Kumar Khanikar, a MBA (FT) 2003 batch alumnus of the Centre and who has recently taken over as the Registrar of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya was presented with a Citation by Samannay with the Chairperson of the Centre, Prof. Pratim Barua giving away the Citation. Prof. Barua also addressed the gathering and commended everyone for making the alumni meet successful as always. Mr. Sanjoy Das, a 2017 MBA (FT) batch alumni of the Centre was felicitated by the association for being included in many national and international record books by virtue of obtaining 26 course completion certificates in a single day. The association's Executive Committee of 2022 - 23 was retained for another term with Mr. Hriday Ranjan Das of the MBA (FT) 2010 Batch as the President. The 2007 MBA (FT) Batch sponsored the Alumni Meet. AFT Techno Trade, Dibrugarh; Bank of Baroda; Wox Energy Drink, Dhansri Auto-Ventures Private Limited, Tinsukia - authorized dealer of Tata Motors; JSB Infrastructures, Dibrugarh; Royal Enfield; and Royal Gems and Jewellers, Dibrugarh were the corporate sponsors of the meet.
18th Alumni Meet Concludes on a High
Samannay - the CMSDU Alumni Association organized the 18th Alumni Meet of Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University on November 10, 2024 with a day-long programme. The Alumni Meet was powered by the MBA (FT) 2016 Batch of the Centre. Corporate sponsorship came from Royal Enfield, JSB Infrastructure and Amar Constructions. 53 alumni from various programmes and batches of the Centre participated in the meet apart from the students and teachers of the Centre.The inaugural function was presided over by the President of the Association, Mr. Hriday Ranjan Das who is an alumnus of the MBA (FT) 2010 Batch. Prof. Pratim Barua, Chairperson of the Centre shared the dais with him. Prof. Barua is also an alumnus of the Centre and Treasurer of the Alumni Association. The whole programme was anchored by Dr. Himadri Barman, General Secretary of Samannay. Prof. Barua in his speech took the audience down the memory lane as he was the first teacher who joined the Centre on January 16, 2003. He recollected the hardships and challenges of the early days of the Centre and the way the teachers and the students responded to the challenges. Mr. Das in his speech thanked everyone for being a part of the meet and making it successful. He hoped that the alumni through their suggestions and cooperation would contribute to their alma mater and help it scale new heights. There was a formal introduction session for all the alumni who were present in the meet. The 16th edition of Expose, the alumni magazine which was edited by Dr. Himadri Barman was also released with Mr. Abdul Rakib of the MBA (FT) first batch (2003) and Ms. Syeda Tanzila Arfin of the BBA first batch (2004) being invited to the dais to do the honours. A minute's silence was also observed for Late Prabahon Bora, a member of the alumni association belonging to the MBA (FT) 2017 Batch who left the mortal world on December 3, 2023. The students of the Centre enthralled the audience through a few songs and dances. A few alumni also performed and showcased their skills.In the post-lunch session, the house was opened for the interaction of the alumni with the students. The alumni answered many queries from the students regarding many issues including placement and career. Considerable time was also spent on discussing about SANMILAN 2025 tentatively scheduled for February 14 & 15, 2025 with the alumni assuring all help in organizing the intellectual convergence which was last held in online mode in 2021. The meet ended with a wrap up of the day and a vote of thanks by Dr. Barman.
